Hydrocarbon Gas EOR Consulting
Miscible Hydrocarbon-Gas Injection and Nitrogen/Hydrocarbon-Gas Pressure Maintenance for Gas-Condensate and Volatile-Oil Reservoirs — Worldwide
When CO₂ isn't available for your EOR project — or when your reservoir calls for pressure maintenance rather than flooding — A&A's consultants can help you evaluate hydrocarbon gas and nitrogen as the miscible injectant your project actually needs.
Avasthi & Associates, Inc. (A&A) is an independent petroleum engineering consulting firm. A&A does not sell hydrocarbon gas, nitrogen, CO₂, or injection equipment — our only business is expert technical consulting, which means our recommendation of CO₂, hydrocarbon gas, or nitrogen as the injectant for your project is based solely on your reservoir's fluid properties, injectant availability, and economics — never on a stake in any particular vendor or technology.
In addition to CO₂ injection and nitrogen (N₂) injection projects, the high-level, seasoned consultants of the A&A Consulting Team have extensive experience with hydrocarbon-gas injection EOR/IOR projects.
Hydrocarbon Gas as a Miscible EOR Injectant
Many times, when A&A determines that CO₂ injection would be an ideal EOR scheme for a client's oil reservoir, the client does not have the necessary CO₂ supply available for injection. In these cases, clients normally ask A&A to evaluate the potential of injecting an available miscible injectant — such as a hydrocarbon gas rich in intermediate components — as an alternative to CO₂. A&A's EOR consultants are experts in conducting hydrocarbon-gas injection studies, just as they are experts in conducting CO₂ injection studies, using state-of-the-art PVT/compositional reservoir simulation.
Pressure Maintenance for Gas-Condensate and Volatile-Oil Reservoirs
Hydrocarbon gas can also be used for pressure maintenance in retrograde gas-condensate and volatile-oil reservoirs — keeping reservoir pressure above the saturation pressure of the reservoir fluid to maximize liquid-hydrocarbon recovery — using the same PVT/ compositional reservoir simulation A&A applies to hydrocarbon-gas EOR studies.
Related A&A Service: Nitrogen is frequently the preferred injectant for pressure maintenance, since it doesn't consume marketable hydrocarbon gas. For a full discussion of pressure-maintenance design and the choice between N₂ and hydrocarbon gas, please see A&A's Nitrogen (N₂) EOR/IOR Consulting page.
A&A's Hydrocarbon Gas EOR/IOR Consulting Services
A&A Consulting Team's hydrocarbon-gas and nitrogen injection expertise includes, but is not limited to:
• Injectant-selection studies — comparing CO₂, hydrocarbon gas, and N₂ on miscibility, availability, and cost — for a given reservoir and location
• PVT/compositional reservoir-simulation studies to determine minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) and expected recovery for hydrocarbon-gas or N₂ injection
• Pressure-maintenance feasibility studies for retrograde gas-condensate and volatile-oil reservoirs
• Pilot-test design, evaluation, and optimization of hydrocarbon-gas or N₂ injection projects
• Field-wide hydrocarbon-gas or N₂ injection project design, evaluation, and optimization
• Ongoing project surveillance to track injection and recovery performance
What A&A Delivers
A hydrocarbon gas EOR/IOR consulting engagement with the A&A Consulting Team is built around the practical decisions your company needs to make, including, but not limited to:
• A clear, economics-based recommendation among CO₂, hydrocarbon gas, and N₂ as the injectant best suited to your reservoir and supply situation
• Compositional simulation results supporting the recommended injection scheme and expected recovery uplift
• A pilot-test design and monitoring plan to de-risk full-field implementation
• Economic evaluation and sensitivity analysis to support the investment decision
• Presentation-ready recommendations for your company's management, partners, and investors
We can put teams of our high-level, seasoned hydrocarbon-gas injection EOR/IOR consultants — with extensive experience in reservoir simulation, facilities, and related studies — to work on your company's hydrocarbon-gas injection EOR/IOR projects, around the world, whenever required.
