Development of Unconventional Oil & Gas Resources
A&A consultants have provided fracturing design, implementation, and post-fracturing analysis for shale resources development projects in the United States as well as in other countries (Argentina, Australia, Angola, Nigeria, Indonesia, Canada, Arabian/ Persian Gulf, and the North Sea). These stimulation projects have included many shale gas and oil (gas and oil trapped in shale) as well as tight gas and oil (gas and oil trapped in rock) formations. Shale formations treated have included the Barnett shale, Bakken shale, Eagleford shale, Mancos shale, Niobrara shale, Haynesville shale, and the Tournasian shale (in Australia). Many of these fracturing treatments were in wells drilled horizontally into the target shale with laterals extending as much as 10,000 ft (approx. 3,000 m) into the reservoir.
Horizontal wells completed in shales can vary in initial production rates, but usually have an initial production of 5 to 40 MMCFD, and stabilize at about one-third of that rate. An important part of design in these projects included the isolation of lateral, so that multiple unique fractures could be generated for the length of the lateral.
Another important factor in the drilling and completion design for such fracturing treatments require consideration of pumping services capabilities, downhole tool capabilities, and material availability. Often the logistics of assembling the required elements in a remote area are the limiting factors in such projects. These fracturing projects require experienced personnel, such as high-level and seasoned consultants of A&A Consulting Team, to make the correct decisions so that all the pieces complement each other and are cost effective.
To ensure that A&A clients are getting the hydraulic fractures that they are paying the fracturing service companies for, A&A Consulting Team of high-level and seasoned consultants with extensive expertise in hydraulic fracturing and horizontal well technologies are available to help A&A clients to:
(1) Analyze the fracturing proposals (including the proposed design of fractures) received by A&A clients from the service companies,
(2) Analyze the scope of fracturing fieldwork proposed by the service companies,
(3) Recommend changes to the fracturing treatment proposals of the service companies, to meet A&A clients' project objectives,
(4) Supervise on well site, on behalf of A&A clients, the fracturing fieldwork performed by the service companies,
(5) Conduct the necessary post-fracturing analysis to determine, if the fracturing treatment achieved its project objectives, for which A&A client paid the service companies, and
(6) Make recommendations to A&A clients that would help reduce their costs of future fracturing treatments (with the objective of project optimization and project profitability).
A&A Training Services in Geomechamics/ Fracturing Simulation for Unconventional/ Shale Gas and Oil, and Tight Gas and Oil, Resources Evaluation, Development and Optimization
In addition to providing start-of-the-art consulting services in geomechanics/ fracturing for evaluation, development and optimization of shale plays, and tight reservoirs (for maximizing production rate and recovery, and project profitability), A&A Consulting Team of high-level and seasoned geomechanics/ fracturing stimulation consultants conduct customized state-of-the-art training workshop on the following topic for the benefit of A&A clients' professionals and managers, at A&A clients' offices, around the world, whenever mutually convenient:
- Hydraulic Fracturing (and Hydraulic Fracturing Quality Control) (one-week training workshop)
The outline of this training workshop is available on request.
